AST1 NSW

Alpine Access Australia is an accredited Avalanche Canada AST Provider. Our AST1 Theory day is in Jindabyne, field day is held in the backcountry out from Guthega, Perisher or Thredbo. Participants acquire new skills and knowledge to help them keep safe in the backcountry. We believe learning should be stimulating and fun – our courses have an inclusive, community vibe where you’ll be given the best chance of success in your future backcountry touring adventures, whether in Australia or in avalanche terrain overseas. Pre-requisites: Skiing/snowboarding skills – strong intermediate level or above. Moderate fitness. (if unsure, contact us to discuss)

STUDENT TO INSTRUCTOR RATIO STRICTLY 8:1 AS REQUIRED BY AVALANCHE CANADA

Equipment Needed:

Avalanche transceiver, Shovel, Probe
Backpack (>30L)
Water
Snacks & lunch
Sunglasses, sunhat, sunscreen
Beanie or helmet, gloves, goggles
Warm layers (not cotton)
Waterproof outerwear
Skiers: Skis with touring bindings & skins, poles
Snowboarders: Snowboard & snowshoes OR splitboard setup, 3 piece poles

CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellation fee 2% of course fee.
A refund, minus the cancellation fee, will be provided if:
* you cancel at least one month before the course date
* you are unable to attend the tour due to illness or injury (medical certificate required)
Severe weather: Course will go ahead in all weather conditions – we can choose protected, lower elevation zones.
A full refund will be offered if we are unable to proceed with the course due to circumstances beyond our control.

CHANGE TO ANOTHER COURSE DATE: If you wish to transfer to another course date, there will be no change fee if you request the change at least 2 weeks beforehand. If you request a change of dates less than 2 weeks before your course booking, you can only transfer you to another course if we are able to fill your place.
